The art world is out in full force this season, as galleries all over the city are debuting their fall exhibitions. With so much world-class art on display, what must you see? GrandLife’s art curator Natalie Kates has all the answers – here, the five must-see shows at the top of her list for October:

“Kisetsu (Seasons)” by Miya Ando at Sundaram Tagore Gallery: With new work by emerging New York artist Miya Ando, this show displays themes of transformation. A descendant of Bizen sword makers, Ando was raised among Buddhist priests in a temple in Okayama, Japan, and by combining traditional techniques of her ancestry with modern industrial technology, she skillfully transforms sheets of metal into abstract paintings filled with color. Opening Reception: October 16, 6-8 pm; On display from October 16 – November 15, 2014; 547 West 27th Street, between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues;
